Vacancy Communications Lead CO2next 

Are you a passionate self-employed communications professional, looking for a part-time role (up to 20 hrs per week) and willing to be part of the realization of crucial CO2 infrastructure needed for CCS solutions and industry decarbonization?

CO2next is a collaborative project by Gasunie, Vopak, Shell, and TotalEnergies to develop an open access terminal for liquid CO2 on the Maasvlakte in the port of Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

This terminal will play a crucial role in the Dutch Climate Agreement and the European Green Deal. It will provide a vital infrastructure for receiving and delivering liquid CO2 via ships and potentially railcars in the future. The terminal will also be connected to the depleted gas fields in the North Sea through the Aramis trunkline, facilitating access for all market parties, including those without a direct CO2 pipeline connection.

Role Description

This is a contract role for a Communications Lead. As the Communications Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day communication activities for CO2next. This will include drafting and distributing press releases, developing and implementing strategic communications plans, manage socials and website, liaise with other communication representatives from CCS partners and creating engaging written content. This is a hybrid role with flexibility for remote work. CO2next’s office is in The Hague where you would be expected for certain relevant meetings and to align with team members. The team is young, ambitious and growing fast.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal (Dutch and English)
• Proficiency in strategic communications planning
• Strong stakeholder management skills
• Strong writing ability with a focus on clarity and conciseness
• Ability to work independently and remotely
• Knowledge of the energy or environmental industry is a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field
